Getting About
Sunbury is very well connected by road. Its location at the top of the M3 allows it to act as a gateway between Kingston, Staines, London and Southampton.
Most local bus routes pass through Sunbury Cross, heading out to Kingston, Staines, Hounslow, Brentford, Heathrow Airport and Ashford Hospital. Lower Sunbury has few bus routes but they do connect with the other routes at Sunbury Cross.
The area is well signposted for cyclists but care needs to be taken given the sheer volume of motor traffic at the interchanges. The area is mostly flat terrain and all the local towns are within easy reach.
The town has a mainline railway station connecting it to London Waterloo and Shepperton. The service runs two trains an hour and can be slow. On race days, the station at Kempton Park is also open which eases congestion at the main station.
Towns and places mentioned above: Brentford (London) Hounslow (London) Kingston (London) Shepperton (Surrey) Southampton (Hampshire) Staines (Surrey)
