Sunbury-on-Thames has two main residential area, Lower Sunbury and Sunbury Common.
Lower Sunbury
This area runs alongside the River Thames and is the original location of Sunbury village. The area has a historic church (St Mary's) and is a quiet residential area.
Sunbury Common
This is the modern day part of Sunbury-on-Thames and is located on the north side of the M3 interchange, away from the River Thames. It is a busy area consisting of modern dwellings, offices and shops. The main employer is BP which has a large research facility at the top end of Sunbury Common.
