Getting About
Staines is very well connected by road and rail. The town's propersity arose from its special geographic location and this continues to be the case today.
The main bus station in the town centre is one of the largest in the area and acts as a hub for over 16 bus routes. Journeys can be made to places a far as Camberley, Kingston, Slough, Twickenham, Windsor and Woking, as well as to all of the neighbouring towns and Heathrow Airport.
In keeping with the local council public transport policies, there are clearly marked cycle lanes on some the main roads and routes are well sign posted. The terrain is mostly flat but cyclists must be extra careful due to the heavy volumes of traffic in the town.
The mainline railway station runs a fast service to London Waterloo, which takes approximately 35 mins to complete. Trains also run to Reading, Weybridge, Hounslow and Richmond. The station has a parking space for 75 cars and daily rates apply.
The road network around Staines is extremely good. The M25, A30, A308 (Windsor to Kingston) and A320 (to Woking) all serve the town. The main bottlenecks tend to be in the town centre, in particular leading from the Crooked Billet roundabout which joins the A308 to the A30. Traffic coming across the river over Staines Bridge can also bring things to a stand still. There is plenty of parking in Staines, both next to the High Street and now at the Two Rivers complex.
Staines is also only 20 mins from Heathrow Airport.
