Town Shopping
Staines offers some of the best shopping in North Surrey. It has an established weekly market, a high street, an indoor shopping mall and a new shopping complex. The town also has a departmental store, all of which puts it on par with Kingston and Hounslow.
Staines High Street forms the center of the town's shopping experience. It runs for about 300 meters and was pedestrianised in 2000. It is home to some of most established shops in Staines, including Marks & Spencers, Debenhams, Woolworths, WHSmith, Ottakar's Bookstore, MFI and Boots. The High Street also has a number of smaller retail outlets offering clothes, shoes, beds and mobile phones.
Each week the High Street is transformed into a Outdoor Market, selling a range of produce and products. The tradition of having a market in Staines dates back many centuries and the modern day market is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Next to the High Street lies the Elmsleigh Centre. This is an indoor shopping mall comprises of around 40 shops, which include BHS, Next, Superdrug, The Body Shop, Mothercare and Matalan as well as a selection of speciality shops. At the back of the shopping centre is Argos and Robert Dyas.
The newest addition to Staines is the Two Rivers shopping complex. This is a large retail park that backs on to the High Street and has around 35 retail outlets. These include Waitrose, HMV, Athena, Boots, Gap, JD Sports, Game and Ann Summers. The complex also has a PC World, Furniture Village, Currys and Carpetright but these are located on the other side of the retail park.
