Welcome to the Local Area Guide for Staines
Staines is an old market town situated on the banks of the River Thames. It was originally founded by the Romans and became a major staging post between London and Bath in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Modern day Staines is one of the largest and most important towns in North Surrey. It provides some of the best shopping & leisure facilities in the area and is home to many large companies, as well as the local (Spelthorne) Borough Council.
Most residents enjoy living in Staines as it offers nearly everything they need. The main downsides tend to be higher property prices and the ever presence of traffic in the town centre.
